AI-Powered Defect Inspection and Data Capture with Zebra’s NS42 Smart Sensor
November 20, 2025A customer in Texas was looking to automate three closely spaced tote conveyors, which required palletizing totes weighing as much as 40 lbs. each. Two of the three conveyors presented the totes in stacks ranging from one to five totes high. Our Motion Automation Intelligence palletizer was paired with a Photoneo PhoXi scanner, which can locate totes and establish pick point availability regardless of the tote stack’s height. An OnRobot 2FGP20 gripper was paired with custom-designed fingers (using Motion Automation Intelligence 3D printing capability) to grip the totes’ upper lips.
Using these components, Motion Automation Intelligence robotics expert Parth Sagpariya rapidly deployed a proof-of-concept system for the customer within two weeks of the original inquiry. Using our software package, we could customize, simulate, and deploy palletizing patterns to present accurate throughput numbers for the customer. We were able to do so confidently after our first discovery call reviewing the application. The complete solution was competitively priced with a flexible configuration and safe operation when paired with a Banner Engineering SX5 safety scanner system.
Our ability to quickly capture the opportunity, confidently convey its capability, simulate our picking throughput, and 3D print custom critical components won us the business. The time between the opportunity origin and the order closing was just two months.
